A beautiful demonstration of fluorescence
may be seen by sprinkling crystalline lucigenin on the surface of a large beaker of distilled water,
irradiated by an ultraviolet lamp.
As lucigenin sinks and dissolves, brilliant yellow-green fluorecent trails can be observed. To avoid
dispersal, it is best to avoid the use of tap water.
